UPI Charges & MDR Calculator
0.4% above ₹2,000 • ₹300 cap • Customers pay nothing
From 15 October 2026, shops in India pay a small fee on UPI payments above ₹2,000. It is called MDR, the Merchant Discount Rate. Type a payment and see what the shop is charged, what actually reaches its account and the working behind the figure — 3,000 × 0.4 ÷ 100 = 12, and why ₹1,00,000 costs ₹300, not ₹400. Customers pay nothing: the fee comes out of what the shop receives.
Pick who is being paid: most shops and businesses (0.4% of the whole payment, never more than ₹300), petrol pumps, railways, phone, insurance and utility bills (a flat ₹5), mutual funds and shares (0.02%, also capped at ₹300), or a small shop paid into a personal account (nothing). Estimate a month of fees from how many payments you take and how big they are, and check whether you stayed within ₹1 lakh a month — the small-shop limit in NPCI’s FAQ.
Every rate comes from NPCI’s own FAQ of 15 September 2026, and the app shows NPCI’s worked examples beside its own figures. It is independent and not official: not affiliated with NPCI, any bank or any UPI app, and not financial or tax advice — confirm the fee with your bank. English and Hindi. Works offline, with no account.

Your month, payment by payment
Enter how many UPI payments you take and roughly how big they are: each is charged on its own, the way the rule works, never as a rate on the month’s total.
Still a small shop?
Enter what came in by UPI in each of the last three months to see whether you stayed within ₹1 lakh a month, and what NPCI’s FAQ says happens after three months in a row above it.
